Lilies

"I know a little garden close
Set think with lily and red rose,
where I would wander if I might
From dewy day to dewy night
And have one with me wandering"
~William Morris

I love macro shots, its hard to go wrong with them. But I'm still having a lot of trouble keeping a steady hand. Maybe its just a matter of practice and time.

I'm not sure if these are lilies but I think they are, if not oh dear. I really know little about flowers except for the fact that they make most excellent models.

Someday I Want To Be Like This Guy

They say you should raise the bar so high that you'll think you'll never reach it, but in time (and with hardwork) you will. I wish I could see the world through his eyes

Just to take one picture like this would be enough

If I find my way, how much will i find you?

I dont know anymore
What it's for
, I'm not even sure
If there is anyone who is in the sun

Will you help me to understand?

Cause I've been caught in between all I wish for and all I need

Maybe you're not even sure what it's for
Any more than me.

An Exercise in Composition

" Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst."
Henri Cartier-Bresson
I wonder what I'll think of all these pictures when I look back on them after I have Clicked for the millionth time. Well the only way to go from here is up I think, although I hope I can find a Canon Photo Class soon, I think I am in need of some guidance.

These are smaller models of traditional Kashmiri pots, some are used to either hold water (for washing hands before eating) and others to hold tea. The amount of work done on these are simply beautiful, like most things that come from Kashmir, its all hand done, every bit.

With these pictures I was trying to take shots from different angles, rearranging the positions of the pots. It was, as titled an exercise in composition.

This one is a Kangrdi and is used to keep people warm in the winter. Usually coals are heated up in it and you keep it close to your body. It's really cosy.

Also to Patrick: I hope you notice, just for you I uploaded some bigger pictures!

Cookie Delights

I went to Mini's house last weekend, lots of cookies were being baked. I had the unofficial job of
photographing the cookies in the making!

If you didn't know, this is what Love looks like.

Mmm, more yumminess to come next weekend after deepavali. I wonder how much more weight I shall put on! For chocolate though, anything goes!

Old Romanticism

Back to Photography. I played around with the manual settings this time. I'm starting to slowly understand the meaning behind each setting, trying to rely less and less on the the auto settings.
I didn't realise how fascinating it is. Also how interesting the effects are!

I didn't want to tell the tree or weed what it was. I wanted it to tell me something and through me express its meaning in nature.

~Wynn Bullock

This was interesting, I purposely let less light through. Found the result to be interesting.

I generally try to stay away from using the flash, but i thought this brought out a nice effect, made the colours more crisp and sharp.

There's something about these old style lamps I can't help but find romantic. I hope I'll be better at capturing their beauty.

Every Bite Reminds Me I'm Loved

Chemically speaking, chocolate really is the world's perfect food.

Everything is a Miracle

This blog has been created for my photography, of which I hope to someday be good at. But we all need a place to begin, so mine is here.

"My portraits are more about me than they are about the people I photograph."
~Richard Avedon

So here are my very first few, with my new camera.
